Lake Erie College announces Tri-County Scholarship | Stay Home, Go Far

Today, Lake Erie College announced its Tri-County Scholarship, which guarantees that new full-time students from Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula Counties who deposit and register for classes in the Fall of 2024 will pay no more than $7,000 per semester in tuition and general fees. This rate will be locked in for the next four years.

“Lake Erie is dedicated to making college affordable and accessible, especially to the students in our own backyard,” shares Lake Erie College President, Jennifer N. Schuller. “Given the turmoil that the changes to the FAFSA have created, we want to allow all students interested in pursuing higher education the opportunity to do so without worrying about hidden costs and rising tuition fees.”

For the past several months, the U.S. Department of Education’s rollout of the new FAFSA process has created challenges for many families. Lake Erie’s Tri-County Scholarship is designed to take the confusion out of the process and simplify the choice for students who want to begin their college career, but who don’t want to worry about hidden costs.

Incoming students will still be required to complete a FAFSA to determine their eligibility for state or federal aid to participate in the scholarship. However, regardless of their financial aid status, the tuition and general fees for each semester will not surpass $7,000. This scholarship is designed for commuter students, but Tri-County Scholarship participants will have the option to purchase a housing and meal plan should they want to live on campus.
